Scarborough Council is investigating whether or not to go "Fair Trade", looking at the costs involved.
But what about fair trade for British farmers? The ones who are ripped off by large retail concerns when selling meat and milk at dirt cheap prices? It's all very well having fair trade for growers and producers in other countries, but there should be fair trade for British producers too.

Scarborough Hospital
Scarborough Hospital is in danger of losing many services to York. A&E as well as many surgical procedures could be transferred to York, leaving Scarborough with nothing more than a minor injuries unit staffed by nurses.
This is a disgusting state of affairs. If taxes were properly spent in this country, instead of thrown into the bottomless pit known as the EU, then there would be more than enough money for all places to have a fully functioning hospital. Hospital services are a vital thing in Scarborough. York is 45 miles away, and in an emergency time is of the essence. How many lives would be lost needlessly in the time it would take to travel from Scarborough to York for treatment?
What about those who are expected to make the journey to York for treatment but have no means of transport there? Are they to be denied treatment?
The priorities of this government should be radically altered. Instead of throwing away taxpayers money and wasting soldiers' lives in Iraq, throwing away taxpayers money on the EU and foreign aid and MPs giving themselves ever more obscene pay increases, taxpayers money should be ploughed into the NHS, transport, pensions, schools, police.

"Hate" Crime?
The phrase "hate crime" seems to have been coined as a tool to further supress free speech and freedom of thought.
Take, for example, one case where someone told a radio phone-in that gay men should not be able to adopt or foster children. This person was arrested by police for committing a "hate crime". That is rubbish - since when has voicing a genuine, valid concern, which many people have, been a "crime"? You can bet that if someone was trying to kill you and you called the police they would not have the manpower to come and help you, but go and say that gay men should not adopt children and every copper this side of the Pennines will be there to arrest you.
The event I have just mentioned did not happen in Scarborough, but it could do. North Yorkshire Police have set up a mobile hate crime reporting unit, just to report crimes against gays, ethnics and others.
Will those people whose lives are made a misery by gangs of knife-wielding Somali asylum seekers be able to report that as a "hate crime"? Or would it be a racist "hate crime" to even consider reporting these immigrant criminals to the police?
Yes, whites too are victims of racism but the media likes to gloss this over and present white people as the villains in every case.
I suggest the readers of this blog look up the names Gavin Hopley, Sean Whyte, Kriss Donald, Ashley Hedger, Christopher Yates and Richard Whelan (to name a few) if you believe that only blacks and Asians are victims of racist crime, and that all racists are automatically white.
