"Get an Engineer to Hang Baubles"

In the latest example of bureaucratic stupidity, a Scarborough bank has told its staff that they must call an engineer to hang Christmas tree baubles if the tree is more than two metres high.

The Royal Bank of Scotland e-mailed its staff and said that hanging streamers in the workplace was too dangerous, computers should not be decorated with tinsel and that if a Christmas tree is more than two metres high then staff must call an engineer to hang the baubles in the tree.

The Scottish owned bank claim all this is owing to health and safety regulations. The same warning was given to the bank's sister companies NatWest and Direct Line.

Poles in Scarborough - A Personal View

The local MP stated recently in the Scarborough Evening News: "It's been a very positive aspect to life in Scarborough. They have reasonable skills and are reliable labour."

The Polish community has increased by 750% in the last year. The local library stocks Polish language books, local shops are going cap in hand to the Poles asking them what they should be selling with regard to Polish food. And worst of all, local workers are being laid off from their jobs so that the Poles can be set on.

If work is available, then local people should have priority, not East European immigrants.

Maybe our local MP would like to meet some of his constituents who have lost their jobs, who no doubt may have voted for him in the last general election, and tell them how great it is to have such a large Polish community in the town. I'm sure they would agree, especially if they find themselves out of work and saddled with a mortgage so that a Pole can have their job.

Hertford By-Election

The British National Party came second in the Hertford (Scarborough Borough Council) by-election held on 30th November.

Scarborough Organiser Patricia (Trisha) Scott, standing in her third local by-election since May, polled 267 votes, which was 26.7% of the total votes cast, making this the highest-ever percentage for the Party in North Yorkshire.

The by-election was called after the resignation of a Conservative councillor, and the Conservatives held on to the seat.

Hertford is the southern-most ward of Scarborough Borough Council. It covers the area south and south west of Filey and includes the villages of Hunmanby, Speeton, Muston, Flixton, Folkton, Reighton and Primrose Valley. It extends to the boundary with East Yorkshire and is largely a rural area.
The whole area was leafleted by a dedicated team from York, Scarborough and Bridlington groups, and there was a good deal of positive response, especially from Hunmanby residents. The Scarborough BNP received many enquiries from interested voters and hope to gain new members after the extensive campaign.

Result:

David Chambers (Conservative) 736 votes.
Patricia Scott (BNP) 267 votes (26.7%)
Turnout 25.12%

Britain's Most PC Town

Scarborough has been named “Britain’s Most PC Town” after the cancellation of the Christmas light switch-on.

The switching on of the Christmas lights is a popular annual event in the town – thousands of people – young and old – turn out to watch the Christmas lights being switched on by a TV personality, and it is the possibility of a large crowd which has prompted the cancelling of the event on health and safety grounds.

Angry locals have jammed the switchboard of the Scarborough Borough Council in protest at the move, and it is hoped that the council Chief Executive will be persuaded to change his mind and allow the event to go ahead.

Last year more than 10,000 people flocked to the event and organisers have said that if more were to turn up this year then someone could be hurt. However, this is not the first event in Scarborough this year to fall foul of red tape – the summer carnival was only allowed to go ahead after insurance issues were sorted out, a fireworks display at the annual Sea Fest was cancelled, a naval march was only allowed to take place after a local businessman agreed to pay for the insurance of the march, a motorcycle parade was cancelled for insurance reasons, Whitby Regatta parade had to be altered because of the danger posed by the tradition of throwing sweets to the crowd and a procession by Filey Lions was cancelled because the floats would have had to be insured.

No other town in Britain has taken such a drastic step over its Christmas light switch on, it is claimed.

Scarborough and Ryedale BNP Honour War Dead

"Scarborough and Ryedale BNP today paid their tribute to those who died serving our country. This was the first time the group has attended the Remembrance event, and Scarborough and Ryedale Organiser Trisha Scott laid a wreath on behalf of the local BNP group.

It was a cold, but sunny day on the top of Oliver's Mount in Scarborough, where the annual ceremony is held. Trisha Scott laid the group wreath alongside wreaths from other local dignitaries and organisations. The BNP wreath carried the message "they gave up their own lives that others might live in freedom. 'Not forgotten'".

The Act of Remembrance is very important to the local BNP, we must never forget those who have fought and died for us."

BNP Beat Labour and Lib Dems in Filey

BNP candidate Patricia Scott (Trisha) beat two main parties in the Filey by-election held on 27th July 2006.

The BNP were fourth out of seven candidates in the election, which was called after the resignation of Tory councillor Freda Coultas. The Tories held onto the seat.

This is a superb result considering that the BNP have only been active in the North Yorkshire town since 1st July, when the first paper sale was held. Since then, regular sales of ‘Freedom’ have taken place, with local people showing a great deal of interest in the Party. Many copies of ‘Freedom’ are sold at each paper sale and there have been many enquiries about membership from local people.

An intense leafleting campaign was carried out in the town in the run up to the election, and the leafleting teams reported that there had been many positive comments from local electors.

This was the first time the party has contested a seat in Filey, and the second time the party has contested a seat on the Scarborough Borough Council since May 2006.

Result:

Filey Ward – Scarborough Borough Council

Geoffrey Cullern (Conservative) 322

Mike Cockerill (Independent) 312

Sam Cross (Independent) 282

Trisha Scott (BNP) 181 ( highest ever for Party in Scarborough!)

Gordon Johnson (Independent) 127

Elizabeth Carrington (Labour) 126

Mike Heslop-Mullens (Lib Dem) 62

Turnout – 26.48%

Death Penalty

This is purely my personal opinion on the issue.

I was motivated to write this post after reading the usual human rights brigades bleating on the inhumanity of capital punishment.

Let's face it, hanging is the only proven method of preventing reoffending, whether you like it or not.

All these hand-wringing idiots moaning on about how to prevent reoffending in prisioners released all too early from prison cost god knows how much in taxpayers' money. If murderers, rapists, paedophiles, muggers, armed robbers, burglars and drunk drivers who kill were topped then many people who have suffered at the hands of prisoners released early from prison would still be alive today.

Children have been murdered by known paedophiles who have been released early from jail. If such scum had been executed then these children would still be alive. There is no argument about that.

With DNA evidence it is now less likely than an innocent victim would be sent to the gallows, but if there is the slightest doubt then keep them inside for the rest of their life, or until their innocence is proven beyond doubt and the correct offender caught.

I am sick and tired of hearing about how poor criminals suffer indignity in jail, how their human rights are violated.

What about the rights of people to live their lives without being attacked, burgled or whatever?

7th July - One Year On

On the 7th July 2005, myself and my Mum joined the BNP. When you look at the date, it is not too difficult to discover what motivated us to join.

We had just heard that four terrorist (yes, I will use that word because I don't give a damn about offending those who think they were poor, deprived individuals who had a grievance with the British people) bombs had exploded in London, one day after the capital celebrated winning the 2012 Olympics.

We thought it was time something was done about the obsessive political correctness in this country, where British people have their views stifled for fear of offending those who live in this country but who want nothing more than to destroy its people.

We think that more should be done to help the victims of such atrocities instead of constantly bending over backwards to accommodate those who condone such attacks.

The do-gooders and left-wing apologisers always choose to blame someone else, usually the native Briton, for the attitudes and actions of terrorists. It is always "our fault" they are "poor and deprived", "our fault" that they do not have the manners to even learn our language, "our fault" that they perform badly at school.

Well, sorry to disappoint you do-gooders, but it is not "our fault" that those well off (no, sorry to burst your bubble but they weren't poor and deprived) low lifes chose to murder 52 innocent people. It is no one's fault but their own. They chose to do it. It is time this country stopped thinking of them as victims and treated them as the scum that they were. Yes, scum - there is no other word for someone who plans, and commits, the mass murder of innocent people.

On this date, our thought are with the families of the true victims of 7/7/05, not the families of those who committed this vile act.

And how Ken Livingstone has the nerve to lay a wreath in London today, I do not know.

Fair Trade for UK Farmers?

Scarborough Council is investigating whether or not to go "Fair Trade", looking at the costs involved.

But what about fair trade for British farmers? The ones who are ripped off by large retail concerns when selling meat and milk at dirt cheap prices? It's all very well having fair trade for growers and producers in other countries, but there should be fair trade for British producers too.

Scarborough Hospital

Scarborough Hospital is in danger of losing many services to York. A&E as well as many surgical procedures could be transferred to York, leaving Scarborough with nothing more than a minor injuries unit staffed by nurses.

This is a disgusting state of affairs. If taxes were properly spent in this country, instead of thrown into the bottomless pit known as the EU, then there would be more than enough money for all places to have a fully functioning hospital. Hospital services are a vital thing in Scarborough. York is 45 miles away, and in an emergency time is of the essence. How many lives would be lost needlessly in the time it would take to travel from Scarborough to York for treatment?

What about those who are expected to make the journey to York for treatment but have no means of transport there? Are they to be denied treatment?

The priorities of this government should be radically altered. Instead of throwing away taxpayers money and wasting soldiers' lives in Iraq, throwing away taxpayers money on the EU and foreign aid and MPs giving themselves ever more obscene pay increases, taxpayers money should be ploughed into the NHS, transport, pensions, schools, police.

"Hate" Crime?

The phrase "hate crime" seems to have been coined as a tool to further supress free speech and freedom of thought.

Take, for example, one case where someone told a radio phone-in that gay men should not be able to adopt or foster children. This person was arrested by police for committing a "hate crime". That is rubbish - since when has voicing a genuine, valid concern, which many people have, been a "crime"? You can bet that if someone was trying to kill you and you called the police they would not have the manpower to come and help you, but go and say that gay men should not adopt children and every copper this side of the Pennines will be there to arrest you.

The event I have just mentioned did not happen in Scarborough, but it could do. North Yorkshire Police have set up a mobile hate crime reporting unit, just to report crimes against gays, ethnics and others.

Will those people whose lives are made a misery by gangs of knife-wielding Somali asylum seekers be able to report that as a "hate crime"? Or would it be a racist "hate crime" to even consider reporting these immigrant criminals to the police?

Yes, whites too are victims of racism but the media likes to gloss this over and present white people as the villains in every case.

I suggest the readers of this blog look up the names Gavin Hopley, Sean Whyte, Kriss Donald, Ashley Hedger, Christopher Yates and Richard Whelan (to name a few) if you believe that only blacks and Asians are victims of racist crime, and that all racists are automatically white.

Bias in Scarborough Media

People in Scarborough know about the recent two by-elections in the town, in the Ramshill and Stepney wards, but do all the people of Scarborough know about the unfair media treatment of some of the candidates?

How the local press featured one candidate but as soon as the full election line up was announced quietly chose to forget to feature other candidates (apart from listing their names)?

Do the people of Scarborough know that this was purely because a candidate from the BNP was standing in the Stepney ward?

The election was won by the Green Party, but the BNP polled 154 votes, which is very good for the first time the party has contested a Scarborough election (this was roughly 12% of the vote). People in Scarborough are getting sick and tired of the traditional parties with their same, tired old agendas and politically-correct attitudes. The BNP is a new party in the town, but there is alot of public interest.

It is time the local press allowed the public to make up its own mind rather than pushing the agenda of one candidate to the detriment of all the others.

Race Equality?

"Applicants for all vacancies within the Council will be monitored by race at each stage of the recruitment procedure".

How does this ensure "equality"? The council has a tick list with all application forms asking for the applicant to state their race and skin colour. I believe this is tantamount to race discrimination, success with an application should not depend on what box you tick to say what colour you are, it should depend on your ability to do the job in question.

In some cases, being white will disqualify you from a job straight away. More and more places employ a policy of "positive discrimination", meaning that white people will be prevented from progressing with an application, no matter how well suited to the job they are, in favour of "minority ethnic" applicants.

This is disgraceful and blatantly racist. If it was the other way round it would be illegal.

British Priorities

"We're ready to give help - that's what Britain does." So says International Development Secretary Hilary Benn on the recent earthquake in Java.

But what about giving help to the many hospitals which are cutting staff, cancelling operations, closing wards and departments and denying important drugs to cancer sufferers because of lack of funds? If money is instantly available to send to far corners of the world at the drop of a hat, then why isn't it available for our health service here in Britain?

If housing is instantly available for asylum seekers, then why can't this same housing be provided for the many British people who have no roof over their head?

Welcome to Scarborough News

Welcome to the news from Scarborough - politically-incorrect news that is! We tell it how it is, not how the local media want you to know!

We bring you the news from our town as and when we have it, we tell you about life in our town as we live it, not how the media might portray it!
